Our story

About Us

Our love for Austria began long before Haus Alpzeit existed. It was here, in the mountains, that Barbara and Evert met each other while we were both working as ski instructors. The mountains stayed an important part of our life after that, for skiing, hiking, cycling, and always some new adventure.

Over the years, our love for each other grew, and so did the wish to one day really live here. We love being outdoors: a walk that starts right from the front door, a bike ride through the valley, a trail run in the mountains, or a day of climbing and via ferrata. But maybe even more, we value the quiet and the space that life here gives us.

When we got to know Schnann, we felt this was a special place. A small village where people know each other, take time for each other, and where the community still feels personal. At the same time, the mountains and everything the Arlberg has to offer are literally around the corner.

In July 2026 we took the step and moved with our two sons from the Netherlands to Tirol. Haus Alpzeit became our new home, and we love being able to share that place with others now.
